College IntellMatcher allows you to create a custom questionnaire for college Matchmakers. We have some sample questions available to help get you started. Remember, the questionnaire can be as "harmless" or as "creative" as you dare make it!
NOTICE: In order to maintain a "safe for kids" rating on this website, the College Questionnaires are NOT available online. You may request a copy of the samples by email. The College Questionnaire Samples contain adult subject matter which may include questions relating to drug use, alcohol use and sexual relations. They may also contain profanity and/or fictitious/non-fictitious adult situations.
If you are offended by these types of topics, we would suggest using one of the High-School questionnaires and modifying the answers to be suited more towards the college level.
Layout of the college questionnaire (for building your own questionnaire)
Building the college questionnaire is the most important part of your event. The questions you choose and create will determine not only the accuracy of matching, but the amount of participation in your event. If your questionnaire is dull (for college standards), nobody will want to participate. If you questionnaire is too wild, it is likely that very few high matches will occur and students will be disappointed with the results.
Since IntellMatcher is an intelligent matching system, you need to know a few things about how the questions should be created.
|
Question may have a maximum of 6 answers.
|
Each answer must be numbered.
|
Questions can be weighted or exact match
|
Questions may or may not have bearing on friend matches |
There are 2 ways to create a college questionnaire.
The first way (the simple, but not as accurate way) is to have a fixed number of non-related questions that (some) are weighted. These are basic questions that have up to 6 answers.
The second way (a bit more time consuming, but very accurate) is to have the first 14 core-matching questions and then a remainder of non-related questions that (some) are weighted.
Question #1 is always the question that either asks the student to "verify their gender" or asks the student "which gender(s) they wish to be matched with" for the DATES section. You decide which variation of question #1 you want to use.
Question #2 is always the question which asks the student the age-range of other students they wish to be matched with. Example:
I want to be matched with people whose age is...
1) 20 and younger
2) 21 - 24
3) 25 - 30
4) 31 - 34
5) 35 - 40
6) 41 - 44
7) 45 and older
You determine the age “brackets” above. Those shown are only examples.
Questions #3 through #16 are (optionally) “special” questions. These are the “core-matching” questions. These questions should be in pairs. Example:
Question #3 would be the “self-identification” question…
My GPA is…
1) 3.8 – 4.0
2) 3.2 – 3.7
3) 2.8 – 3.1
4) 2.5 – 3.8
5) Less Than 2.5
Question #4 would the “match-related” question…
I would like to me matched with someone who’s GPA range is…
1) 3.8 – 4.0
2) 3.2 – 3.7
3) 2.8 – 3.1
4) 2.5 – 3.8
5) Less Than 2.5
6) Doesn’t matter
Question #5 would be the “self-identification” question…
What kind of shape are you in?
1) Very slim and very fit
2) Slim and fit
3) Average fitness
4) A bit out of shape, but working on it
5) I have a great personality
Question #6 would the “match-related” question…
I am looking for someone with a physical appearance of...
1) A very slim body and very physically fit
2) A slim body and physically fit
3) An average body and physical fitness
4) A bit out of shape, but working on it
5) A great personality
6) Doesn't matter; I'll take what I can get!
|
Odd numbered questions should always have up to 5 possible answers.
|
Answer #6 (or the last answer) on even numbered questions should always be "Doesn't matter or Any, etc". |
If you do not want to have these special types of matching questions, you can use any other questions that you wish. Just remember that these special questions are weighed more heavily in the matching process and will therefore produce a much more accurate match if you use them.
All remaining questions (and/or including the first 3 through16 if you are not using “special” questions) need to be one of two types.
Weighted Questions - have answers that go from one extreme to the other. Meaning that answer #1 is at one end of the extreme and answer #5 or #6 is at the other end of the extreme. Example:
How much do you drink at most parties?
1) I don’t drink at all
2) Only 1 Drink
3) 2 - 4 drinks
4) 5 - 7 drinks
5) If it’s liquid, I drink it…
Match Questions - have a variety of non-weighed answers. Example:
My favorite drink of choice is…
1) Beer
2) Wine
3) Mixed Drinks
4) Straight shots
5) (use your imagination…)
Additionally, you will need to identify is the question has any bearing when you are being matched with friends (i.e. the same gender list).
So, in summary, create 30 questions (or use some of ours or change some of ours), identify if they should be weighed or exact matched and identify if they should be relevant to friend matches.
When you have selected/created your questions, send them to us and we will format them on a questionnaire for you and return it to you for.
